cool kitty story

yesterday when leaving for work, i found one of those breakaway cat collars in our front yard. it had a heart shaped tag on it - the cats name was spiderman and he lived on laurel canyon. that's quite a hike from our place for a cat.

I showed it to angie when she got home last night, and she called the number on it. the woman she spoke with told her her cat had just up and disappeared two weeks earlier and described him as an all black cat - we have two of those in our yard usually, both are very skittish and you can't get within 20 feet of them without them taking off. the woman said she'd probably take a drive around our neighborhood later on and see if there was any sign of him.

I remembered being outside a few days earlier and seeing a black cat on the neighbors lawn. I had gone over to him and he didn't take off right away... so i called our neighbor and she said, yeah, that there was a new black cat hanging around. he would come when she called him, she and another neighbor had been feeding him for a week or so, and had seen him just yesterday.

I called the woman back and told her to come over as soon as she could, cause the cat was definitely still in the area. A little while later a middle aged woman with two little boys (couldn't have been much older than 10) pulled up in a minivan and started calling for spiderman. I came over and gave them the collar, and pointed out the yard i had seen the cat in.
A black shape appeared from the bushes over there, and they went running over to get spidey. he got scooped up by the mom and both kids were giving him hugs and kisses. the littler of the two kids even got a little teary (not me though). she told me that someone had taken the cat with his collar on(!) to the pound twice already. she thinks that this time the someone with an odd kitty grudge just took him for a drive and dumped him somewhere three miles from home.

it was probably doctor octopus.

It's like a kind of torture...
To have to watch the show

24 is a show about torture, pretty much. jack bauer needs info, jack bauer hurts someone. badly. in fact in this very episode, after shooting a suspect in the leg, jack tells the medics working on him, "I don't mind that you've treated his wounds, but don't give him anything for the pain."

given that, the person i would least expect to have a walk on appearance (top left):
