"I believe the most damaging thing Tom DeLay has done in his life is take his faith seriously in the public office, which made him a target of all those who despise the goals of Christ..." - Rick Scarborough, introducing DeLay on tuesday, at the "War on Christians and the Values Voter in 2006" conference of course, one of Christ's goals being the right to carry his concealed weapon. "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, just be sure they don't also take away your concealed weapon permit." -Matthew 5:38-40 another being indicted for using corporate money for political campaigns. "So in everything, do to others what they have paid you blood money to do for them." -Matthew 7:12 and who could forget that sunday school parable about speedy decisions on conspiracy charges so as not to affect reelection chances in november? "What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits the upcoming election?" -Matthew 16:26 i'm glad someone in power is taking the teachings of christ to heart. posted by scott 1:49 PM 3.28.2006

this just in!
i don't usually read forwarded emails, much less post 'em here, but i liked the tone of this one, so here 'tis: Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation. Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism. HMO's and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science but creationism should be taught in schools. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none of our business. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80's is irrelevant. all too true. gives me a stomache just reading it. plop plop fizz fizz... posted by scott 5:03 PM |
