the lot!

oldish news, but i thought i'd share anyway...

Blood-Curdling Terror Comes To Small-Town America in SALEM'S LOT, a Horrifying TNT Original Miniseries Starring Rob Lowe

Andre Braugher, Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, James Crowell and Samantha Mathis Co-Star in Two-Part, Four-Hour Thriller Set To Premiere on TNT June 20 and 21

A dark terror has come to the picture-perfect town of Jerusalem's Lot, and it's up to a writer with a haunted past, played by Rob Lowe (Lyon's Den, The West Wing), to uncover the horror that has taken over the town in SALEM'S LOT, an Original dramatic miniseries event for Turner Network Television (TNT). Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street), Donald Sutherland (The Italian Job), Rutger Hauer (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind), James Cromwell (Babe) and Samantha Mathis (TNT's The Mists of Avalon) also star in this gripping two-part, four-hour thriller. Shot on location in Melbourne, Australia, SALEM'S LOT will premiere on TNT Sunday, June 20 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) and conclude on Monday, June 21 at 8 p.m (ET/PT).

SALEM'S LOT, adapted from the best-selling novel by horror master ,Stephen King, is a co-production of TNT and Warner Bros. Television, with Mark Wolper (TNT's The Mists of Avalon, The Thornbirds) executive-producing for The Wolper Organization and Jeff Hayes (Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) executive-producing for Coote/Hayes. Mikael Salomon (Band of Brothers) directs from a script by Peter Filardi (Flatliners, The Craft). The movie also features atmospheric cinematography by Ben Nott (Code Red) and a score by Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World), showcasing the vocal talents of Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator, Whale Rider).

Jerusalem's Lot, or Salem's Lot, as many natives affectionately refer to it, appears on the outside to be the perfect small town. But there is something evil festering under the surface of this Maine hamlet, and it seems to be emanating from the ominous Marsten House, perched atop a hill overlooking the town. When Mears was a child, he witnessed a horrible murder in the house, one that has left him emotionally scarred. He hopes, however, to wrestle with the demons of his past by writing a book about the town and its inhabitants.

Ben is not the only newcomer to town. An antique dealer named Richard Straker (Sutherland) has also arrived to open up a new shop with his silent partner, Kurt Barlow (Hauer). It doesn't take long before strange things begin happening. A series of mysterious deaths and disappearances eventually lead Ben, waitress Susan Norton (Mathis), high-school teacher Matt Burke (Braugher) and Father Donald Callahan (Cromwell) to conclude it might be the work of vampires. They work together to uncover the terrifying truth.

~~~got that write up there at liljas library, a great king site.
this actually sounds like it'll be pretty good... at least the soundtrack should be.
idoldya id post something
john has gots ta go.
gots ta!!
nice of simon to give him props for taking criticism better than anyone else that's been on the show though, and for telling him not to feel guilty for jennifer getting booted. it ain't his fault he's not as good. its americas fault for not giving him the boot.
then simon went and told him that he and latin music mix as well as chocolate ice cream and an onion.
nice.
geek usa
jim made a top 5 superheros list today.
i gave it some thought, and decided to one-up him in geeksmanship. it's kind of a cop out, cause i really can't think of my top 5 superheros, but i do know my favorite runs of comics, so that's my thursday top 5...
5) crisis on infinite earths
every superhero in the DC universe(s) is in this one. monumental task, but marv wolfman and george perez are up to it. great story, necessitated by too many universes and too many continuity flaws in the DC universe. so they just wiped them the fuck out. awesome.
4) the new mutants 18-(about)31
claremont and sienkiewicz are on a roll here, some of the most inspired artwork i've ever seen in a comic book to this day, and great writing, with the demon bear series and leigon as the ones that stand out. also introduces warlock, who no one but sienkiewicz could ever get right.
there was also a special edition around this time with the new mutants in asgard, drawn by art adams, who is also a fucking amazing artist.
3) alpha flight 1-12
i liked it even after 12, and even after john byrne left, for a while. but 1-12 is just great. byrne has always been my favorite writer/artist, and this was really him at his best.
2) fantastic four about 131(ish)-296
well, maybe this was byrne at his best. plus this was really the first comic i was into "collecting" and it really started me getting into a lot more. this could be the longest run of great art and stories ever. he never faltered, every issue was as good as the one before it.
check out what he would have done had he continued after 296. i'd probably still be collecting.
1) x-men 1977-1987
best comic book. ever. until '87ish. but i don't know if that was me or the book. thats right around when i stopped collecting seriously. i did pick up a trade paperback of the new x-men a while ago, and it's really good. so i think it was the book, not me growing out of it.
i could have made this a top 10, or 20 even. i loved the early issues of TMNT, a lot of spiderman, batman, daredevil, and anything by byrne, including his revamping of superman...
but i just don't have the time.
some idol bullshit last night
...but it's at that point where people you like are gonna get booted.
there can be only one.
(just please dont let it be john stevens or jasmine)
oy, again with the idol
barry manilow brings out the best in others i guess. great show, even though no one did my favorite barry song.
i thought jasmine was the weakest, and it wasn't latoya's best week...
but i think either jasmine or john will be gone tonight.
i'm hoping for john.
he is the weakest link.
goodbye.
mad world
YES!!!!
one of the most underrated movies of all time is getting a rerelease with 20 additional minutes!
i saw this twice in the theatres, and i think i alone was responsible for 20% of the box office.
but with over 10 million in dvd sales, and the cover of "mad world" by gary jules going #1 in the UK at the end of 2003, someone decided there was some more money to be made.
fine by me. i love this flick.
(one of the coolest movie websites ever, too)
i hope theres a vol. 2 of this
quentin idol was pretty cool. he didn't hold back at all, unlike most guest judges who are just nice to everyone. i'm not saying he was simon-bad, but he was definitely being honest.
i just want jpl the fuck outta there at this point. yeah, the other john aint great either, but at least he has the crooning thing down. jpl is just no friggin' good.
everyone else left are good singers, so it's tough at this point. my favorite is still a toss-up between fantasia (who was by far the best last night, best of the competition so far) and george.
this week, the bottom 3 should be jpl, diana, and jasmine.
you know who i want to get the boot, but i bet it will be diana, which is unfair, cause shes got a way better voice and presence then jpl.
i also bet george is in the bottom 3 instead of jpl. jesus christ, he's like bush, he sucks out loud, and just won't go away.
the last song on earth
you can only listen to one song for the rest of your life.
what do you listen to?
i'm leaning towards 'ten years gone' by zeppelin. no matter how many times i hear that song, it never gets old.
and what song could the army blast outside your compound walls nonstop to make you come out crying?
for me, it's a toss up between 'god bless the usa'(that fucking 'proud to be an american' song) by lee greenwood, or 'baby hold on' by eddie money. i kinda like eddie money, but that song just gives me a headache every time i hear it.
i feel somewhat vindicated by this
***so this episode is being moved to wednesday, so bush can lie about why he dismissed the 'bin laden is planning attacks inside the US' memo.
does that mean we can vote him out now with text messaging?***
idol
jennifer gave me chills, camile gave me shudders. so close, yet so far away.
fantasia and george were as good as always. i don't think either of them has had a bad week yet.
if theres any justice in the world, camile and the johns will be in the bottom three, and judging from last night alone, camile will get gone.
boo that girl!
nova express
found poetry culled from the third paragraphs of random blogs:
i got this poem in an email and i think peoples should read it so hear it is:
Once I found a car boot sale selling everything from bell-jars to florescent, fish-tail skateboards.
Grrr. It better be ok.
and strange bugs are invading my room.
maybe tomorrow i'll throw down on a ten stair.
Grrr. It better be ok.
ok sorry. just had to get that out.
ten stair bugs are invading a car
ignore the smoke and smile.
the flash was bloody bright- lightening bright!
Grrr. It better be ok.
(apologies to william s burroughs, who's probably shooting up in his grave right now)
just for you, bry
Today was really tiring.
I got out of bed just before breakfast because the smell of cooking bacon woke me up.
I feel unusual because my antidepressants are making me hairy.
I'm so hardcore. Me and Buzz went to the mall today, and I stole a whole heap of stuff. I got a Good Charlotte CD, a couple of DVDs and some new boots. Buzz got caught, but he fought his way out, and then we stole some lady's car and smashed it into a phone booth.
Last night I had to go and pay Joshua's bail. He's such a jerk. He got arrested for punching the Walmart clerk in the face for refusing to sell him beer. He's only 16!
I want to tell the world that I love you all! You're all so special to me!
I am sharpening my knives before I go to work today, because I'm going to cut out Robert's heart and feed it to him for losing my mail.
Today, I got a digital camera! Yes! Here's ten thousand photographs of my cat.
I want to say thanks to the world for absolutely fucking nothing! You all suck. I feel so alone, no one ever reads this journal, or even comments to let me know that I'm not suffering alone. It's cold here, and I want to die, but I cannot figure out how many of you to take with me when I go.
I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I have bipolar disorder, which makes me different enough to be interesting, but the same as all the other cool people with bipolar disorder.
You should all do this quiz! It's amazingly accurate. You just put in your name and birthday, and it will tell you you're a moron.
That's enough for now. But I'll leave you with this thought - sharing your life with strangers on the internet is the cheapest form of therapy available. Leave a comment and tell me I'm beautiful.
